This is a quick reminder that we have a dance this Sunday, as we previously emailed/posted.

As always, I look forward to most is enjoying everyone's company: good food, old and new friends, nice conversation, and a little dancing and music to liven it up. This dance, I will be bringing my laptop and sharing some great dance videos for inspiration and as teaching aids. This will be a great opportunity to "step up" by "stepping out"!

This dance I will use cds and videos for the music, because, as some of you may probably know, our dear friend and one man orchestra Peter was in an accident a few weeks ago. The good news is he is recovering well, and we look forward to dancing with him again soon. However, any of you who may not have already done so, I am sure a few words from contra friends would help the healing on the inside...

The dance is from 1 to 4/5...please come on time if you can, so we can start early. Free admission for those who bring a friend or food for the snack break, 500 yen otherwise.

Also, in a personal plug, my wife Yukie will be giving a storytelling performance the next Sunday. She will be telling the traditional japanese folk tale called "Hanasakaji-san". It goes from 2-3:30PM, at the
SakyoSeibu IkiIki Shimin Katsudo Center,
which is near Demachiyanagi. A map is here.
A flyer for it can be found here;

Also, Sunday, November 04, 2012 11:00 to 15:00
We will holding a Contra Dance Demonstration as part of the
"2012 Sanjo Town Festival" of the
Higashiyama Iki Iki Shimin (Citizen Activities) Center in Kyoto

(Like Contra dance, the festival promotes community. It places an emphasis on respect for human rights, mutual understanding, and solidarity with other groups, towards the creation of a diverse society. It originally grew out of efforts to fight Buraku discrimination.)

The festival is on Wakamatsu Avenue, just south of Sanjo Station,
Near Former Yu-sai Elementary School.
Map here (see green line):http://goo.gl/maps/vlzrP

The festival includes children's events including a sword dragon, local school bands, concerts, a talk about human rights, and of course our contra dance festival, which should be sometime after 12:30. It will be a short demonstration, but there are other things to do as well.
