First, Thanks to everyone who came to the Fushimi Dance this month. A lot of beginners, but they stuck with it and we had some great dances. And a special thank you to "Blue Eyes" at their debut contra dance performance. We look forward to hearing them again!

Secondly, in collaboration with Felicity Greenland of Singing Around the Table, we are pulling together a Caroling night... KYOTO INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS SONGS & CAROLS!!! We are meeting at 7pm in front of Kyoto City Hall on 24th December. We will have lyrics for well known Christmas Songs & Carols that we can all sing together, in English and Japanese - if you have any songs you want to sing, please bring 20 copies of any songs you want to introduce (in any language).

Voici un petit message pour vous inviter au prochain petit bal de l'Institut franco-japonais du Kansai, qui aura lieu le dimanche 12 décembre.
Le bal commence à 13h et finit à 16h.
L'entrée coûte seulement 500 yen.
Cette fois-ci, il n'y a pas de marché organisé le même jour, mais vous pouvez toujours utiliser le café ou apporter vos propres boissons.
Nos invités spéciaux de cette fois ci sont David et Yukie, qui nous enseignerons une contredanse, danse de groupe née entre l'Angleterre et la France et aujourd'hui très populaire aux Etats-Unis.
Ils seront accompagnés de musiciens venus de Fushimi qui joueront pour nous plusieurs morceaux !
Comme Noël est proche, nous vous proposons de vous habiller aux couleurs de la neige, du père noël et des sapins, mais bien sûr ce n'est pas obligatoire.

This is just a short message to tell you about the next Petit Bal (French Folk Dance Party) at the French Institute in Kyoto on December 12.
The ball will starts at 1pm and finish at 3pm.
This time we won't have the Marché (French market) but you can still enjoy the Café or bring your own beverages.
Our special guests for December Ball are David and Yukie, who will teach us some Contradance, a dance born between England and France who is now very famous in the United States.
We will also have a couple of Musicians coming from Fushimi, who will play for us a couple of tunes.
Since Christmas is close, why don't we dress ourselves in the colours of the snow, Santa Claus and (or) the Christmas tree ?

Well it is rainy today so it's been the best day for browsing videos at YOUTUBE. I found lots of cool contradance videos from America so let me introduce some of my favorites to you today. David is, yes, curled up on a big bean bag and taking a nap.
New Year's Eve Contra-dance
--Some people told me that contra was very hard exercise for them. This is a good example that shows it doesn't have to be... The dancers are all dancing in a very relaxed mood, even when they are swinging. Lots of great dancers.

In this video some gents are enjoying twirling and that is very amusing to watch. Also music changes to jazz from the middle.
